Bizarre facts
- He hosted a
very poor student radio show for a while. It included possibly the worst joke
ever plus the most bizarre selection of music ever heard on legal British
radio. And that includes John Peel.
- Before entering
the world of journalism, he was once an estate agent. Well, he helped sell
one house, anyway. It was a team effort, OK?
- He once watched Coldplay perform in a pub.
- He once appeared
on early nineties kids ITV show 'Ask Oddie'. He wore a Young Ornithologists
Club T-shirt and asked a question about fox hunting. This duty was carried
out under duress.
- He has touched
Michael Stipe's head. Stipe was not amused.
- He is possibly
the only person on the planet who doesn't really hate any type of music. He
even likes post Peter Gabriel Genesis!
- At the height
of Britpop, he took
part in an ultimately pointless debate to argue that Oasis were better than
Blur. He won.
- He interviewed
irreverent satirist Mark Thomas for a tinpot GWR radio station. Twice during
the interview the power failed due to a storm but soldiering bravely on he
still managed to gather enough material for about
20 seconds of decent
audio.
- In Cardiff,
he somehow ended up at a Stereophonics backstage party for the families of
the band.
- He cried like
a small child in a Netherlands Irish Pub when Manchester United won the European
Cup in 1999.
- He once hit
Jimmy Saville. This is no joke. He was in his push chair at the time, mind
you. Sir James quite innocently tried to enquire how the young DannyG was.
The ensuing slap was a taste of things to come.
